Find Your Crashed Drone using a $4 RF Key Tracker #HoverX1

Sometimes, drone photography does not go exactly as planned. You might see your drone fly off in a strong wind, crash off of the trail, or get stuck in a tree. In these scenarios, having an audible tracker can greatly speed up your drone recovery. It may even be the difference between losing or finding your drone altogether. Today I am bringing you mountain biking with me on the maiden voyage of my new self-following action camera / drone, the Hover X1 by Zero Zero Robotics. 🤙 The drone has a couple limitations. It is not able to track subjects going faster than 15 mph, and it has some trouble fighting strong crosswinds and headwinds. But for the money, it gets awesome shots that would cost four times more with som...

I've ridden the Himalo 36 fork for 100 miles, and am happy with its performance considering the cost was only $144. a.aliexpress.com/_msUCpFm Not surprisingly, it isn't serviceable or as tunable as a Fox 36. Good vid, liked it. Normally I prefer vids where guys are doing the A line, shralping turns, and connecting doubles but your vid featured the trail pretty well. You have good graphics, shots, and editing. And you demonstrated the good and bad of this drone. But.... you edited the trail out of sequence, if you are aiming to build a trail guide catalog, a trail ride from top to bottom in chronological order would be more useful. I did not realize a drone can flatten out terrain as much as a gopro or maybe more.
Thank you for your feedback!
how did you upgrade the battery? i presume the batteries are unique? thanks
The battery is integrated with the frame. Not upgradeable.
Yes
mroscillot, are you ok? we haven’t seen any videos of yours lately? everything alright?
Wow, thanks for asking! Still riding but gotta travel further now that I've filmed my local spots.
It's still a Walmart bike. That mid drive isn't powerful enough to take seriously. 36v 250wat is not good enough for most riders who aren't children.
Your quoting power consumption instead of torque output shows your ignorance.
@@MrOscillot The voltage of the system is directly indicative of how much power and torque the motor is able to output. 36 V systems are for children. 48 V systems are entry level for e-bikes. Even with a mid drive, you’re not going to get very good torque output out of any 36 V system. 48 volt systems can only power electric motors to around 90 Newton meters of torque and thats not even powerful enough to climb anything steeper than a 25% grade unless you’re using pedal assist.
@@HighguyMcfly are you a roadie who rides mopeds / class 2 / hub driven ebikes? Because you don't sound like a mountain biker who has experience with mid-drives, where low end torque and responsive are more important than top speed.
@@MrOscillot I’m not saying that’s not important and I know mid drives put out more torque than hub drives / are better for mountain bikes. And honestly the torque output you’re getting from that bike is impressive. I’m just saying a 36 V system is underpowered. And for you to ignore the fact that lower volt systems are inferior is foolish. Also, the fact that you would stoop so low as to insult my intelligence shows that you are an insecure and childish person.
Great VID! Would it be possible to add a throttle to this bike? Can you suggest any resources I may use to research please? Thanks, SUBSCRIBED!
Not possible. There are a few threads on this on the Facebook owners group.
just got a hyper e-ride full suspension for 1300 cad on facebook market place gonna leave it stock and save for a better ebike
I don't understand how removing a token from your rear shock is something that you are okay with, but adding a token to your fork, is something that you need a bike mechanic to do? It's a 2 minute job! You just need a socket. Those psi settings seem incredibly high, but you didn't state your bodyweight.
Sounds like a fun project. I weigh 207 lbs.
wow! you’re loving the skydio ha!! beautiful!❤
nice! you got skydio 2 too? very nice 😊
Yep, partially inspired by you!
very nice, beautiful trail!
That looks sick! Love the drone footage. 🔥
I got my Hyper E ride Mid drive off amazon on sale for $700 a month ago, and it was a great purchase. I have upgraded the gears just like you did, I also replaced the suspension with a DNM Rear Shock and RockShox Judy Front fork and this bike rides like a dream on any mtb trail. It is now somewhat comparable to my 7k Trek E-Mtb.
The nice thing about a beater bike is you can take it in the mud and not worry about messing it up.
I just missed the spring sales on hyper website, it was 599 or 699 i'm not sure, great value, but Im not intested in emtb (I have a real pedal mtb that I ride with other people, noone has asssist), more looking for an affordable full suspension mid drive/torque sensor commuter that can go fast over bumps on a paved bike trails, so more interested in motor and battery upgrades and street tires, but I was always interested in the value of this bike especiallly when its on sale. I found nothing interesting though in terms of controllers, speed unlock etc. Im probably going to settle for a hub motor thats has enough power and top speed from the factory or with just controller upgrade, and torque sensor, fat tires might be good enoough for the rear (rear suspension and hub motor don't mix well together). juiced ripcurrent S on sale sounds like a good contender and has off road controller that should be fully supported by the warranty. Ariel Kepler seems to have a lot of go too, stock, but lower quality components
@@geemy9675 Yeah ive heard the Rip Current S is a great bike, one of my freinds has it and says its a comfortable commuter.
@@hudsonisbetter yeah 52v 1kWh 90Nm 1300W and 50%+ increase in power(2000W+) and torque and 30mph+ on throttle with the 40A off-road controller plus torque sensor, 9 speed cassette, big chainring, and aggressive pricing when it is on sale
the top tube is actually about aligned with the headset, it looks like it's the downtube that's offset to the right. I wonder how they build those frame 🙄 you'd think they would make the production line fool proof to align the various frame elements but if its by design then its probably OK
Some on the Facebook owners group don't have this issue. Maybe it was just one batch of bikes produced before they fixed it? Either way, I haven't heard of anyone having issues.
@@MrOscillot I'd love to know if there is any controller or battery upgrade possible....planning to use it as a commuter. I've seen a video about holdong a button to access speed limit setting
@@geemy9675 So far no x2, but you can buy a spare battery.
@@geemy9675 No upgrades possible with this motor as the controller is integrated.
@@MrOscillot yeah thats what I saw on forum post where they took the motor apart. the motor is sensorless and doesn't react well to a generic controller
How you doin Mr.Oscillot I’m also here in San Diego just moved here for duty and I just picked one those bikes up myself but I’m trying to upgrade the drive train is there a list of sorts you used to convert the freewheel to a freehub if you did or showered you got a new drivetrain on there I’m in the Facebook group but I can’t make heads or tails of anything
You'll need to upgrade your wheel to accommodate a cassette. Links to the parts I used are in the video description. Good luck!
The 2022 Hyper E-Ride mid-drive full-suspension is $699 on their website now!
Saw that, that the best deal right now.
Just got one @ 699. Deal ended over the weekend.
@@Alamo7502 insane of a deal, enjoy.
Berapa menit waktu terbang teman?
Flight time is 10 minutes per battery. When running low, you can swap in a new one.
Just got the $1500 bike for $699!
That's a steal!
I have a Cargo net above the rear seats .. has loops for Fishing poles
Genius!
It's $699 now at Walmart and Amazon and even cheaper in Canada.
That's a steal!
Great Video with TONS of great information. I was wondering if buying cheap - ebike and upgrading its parts is a good/ safe decision. Will the cheap Chinese frame or cheap wheels suddenly fail on you?
My Hyper held up in enduro conditions, which are demanding for a Walmart bike. I would keep it away from the downhill park, though.
@MrOscillot thanks a lot for the reply! I was just wondering what the total weight of the upgraded bike was? I was looking into buying the OnTime Phantom emtb and upgrading it overtime. Can you give me your opinion on this bike, rear suspension design etc? If not it's totally fine! Thanks a lot!
@@sohamnirantare1827 I don't recall exactly, but I did weigh it after, and it had lost a pound or two. The Phantom looks promising but heavy (which might be OK depending on how you'll use it). Do you know how much rear travel the frame has? I would not expect much, and I would not use that bike on trails other than smooth, relatively straight dirt roads.
i use skydio2, but they have no future anymore in the consumer market, they sold out to the military.
I couldn't imagine paying 150 for a simple tail light install 😭my boy you got scammed!
Esquiva obstáculos?
Si.
Super lazy not to do it yourself. Like they say "A fool and his money are soon parted" hahaha Half the fun is doing it yourself!
As soon as I heard 44 parts installed, I'm out. That just seems absolutely absurd haha
Nice video. Well done. These kind of footage is just not possible before the existence on this magical mini device 🤗
I really like the idea of this drone but I'm thinking I'll wait for v2, 4k @60hz with a higher bite rate will really help things look a lot better and faster.
Me too, 4k and more flight time then I'll get one for sure
Waw
Nice job!!! I just got one of these for my birthday and it is so fun. Perfect for that quick easy shot. Great job on your videos as I came across then when researching for it.
I have the J Pro and the K1 and I love them both. Both are functional and eye-catching.
What size tires are you running? Sorry if i missed it in the video
2.4".
@@MrOscillot thanks. How do they fit? I thought about getting 2.6" but not sure if it would fit. Thanks again
@@TycortsMafia 2.6" might fit the stock wheel, but the tire will deform and the contact patch will not be as intended. I run 2.8" on my other bike and would have liked to have done that here. www.lightbicycle.com/newsletter/tire-size-chart-for-bicycle-rim.html
Nice Vid,,, but you should really learn to do this work yourself, With all the money you spent on labor, such as the simple light installs and stuff, thats extra money you could be spending in other places or more towards your beautiful ride.
During the time the installer was working, I earned more money than he did. That's how I pay for my toys.
Great video ! I just picked this up on sale. I know nothing about parts and compatability and would appreciate your expertise. My old bike has rockshox pike 409 and a set of haynes 9 hydraulic brakes. Would these fit ? And would it be an upgrade ?
You should be able to tell both by feel. Hydraulic brakes are an upgrade if they are well maintained (fluid and pads). The fork would be an upgrade if it fits a 29" wheel and is well maintained (fluid and seals).
@MrOscillot thank you for this. My issues is just now compatability and if they will bolt on
@@Oracle85 both are possible. UA-cam tutorials should help.
Bro spent thousands having things professionally installed when he could "do it myself" on EVERY item. Riiight...
hi i'm really thinking about getting this bike, its about 700 usd on clearance where i live. is seems low battery and power but at this price its interesting for fs. Can i ask a couple of questions? 1) max speed -- not that familiar with mid drive, but on flats like pavement or gravel road commute (i only ride trails once a month), would the max speed still be limited to 20mph at full cadence on smallest cog (stock cog)? I can do 25 on my old bike pushing hard (which i dont want to do). This other reviewer said he could get this bike up to 26 on pavement pedaling full cadence I think in pas 5? can you hit that speed in any PAS on flats or is it only a function of the cog sizes? 2) is no assistance PAS 0? in that pas, is there is zero resistance from motor?, so does that mean on a you could hit higher speeds like 30 with the right gearing? 3) Range, i've seen as low as 12 and one guy reported 30 miles. i'm heavier and would be mostly on relatively flat terrain. 4) riding position -- my 2 mtbs are older hunched over bar position a lot of pressure on wrists. Is this one the same or more upright than old mtbs? 5) when you run out of battery how hard is it to move - does it ride like a standard bike but heavier of course - so you wouldnt notice theres a motor on the drive train in pas 0 or off? thanks
$700 is a steal! Check out the Hyper E-Ride Owners Group on Facebook for other owners' experiences. I'm looking for another project, so if you're anywhere near San Diego, feel free to make me an offer for this one. 1. Pedal assist goes up to 20 mph. Of course you can pedal well beyond that through human power, gearing, and gravity. 2. Zero motor resistance in PAS 0. I don't think there is any resistance in the higher levels, either. 3. I'm 210 lbs and get 11+ miles on steep trails. People on the Facebook group report getting 30+ miles on flat roads. 4. Geometry is better than most Walmart mountain bikes. This is not a sized frame, so it's designed for someone around 5'8". I'm 6'1" and made mine more comfortable through a combination of seat dropper post, longer fork, and wider handlebars. If you wanted to go even more upright, you could get yourself riser handlebars. But I did some trail rides in stock form and was fine.
thanks, just to clarify, so the pedal assist cuts out completely after 20mph? wouldn't that be very impractical if you are hovering around 18-23 trying to get somewhere relatively fast (not a steep hill), you would be going from lite effort to high effort on and off, seems counterproductive do you feel the cut off abruptly? and does the stock gearing mean you are pedaling liek crazy at 20-23. Can you describe what it feels like going past the cutoff? thanjs @@MrOscillot
@@soneeeee4440 the pedal assist cuts out above 20 mph. When you dip below 20 mph, it turns back on. This motor is driven using a torque sensor. Power comes on and cuts out much smoother than more primitive motors that use a cadence sensor. Everyone's preference is different as far as gearing, but the bike will perform like any other MTB with this gearing. Just a little heavier due to the motor and batteries, and with a power assist that multiplies your effort (as opposed to being on/off) up to 20 mph. If your primary use is commuting on roads, you might want to look at a non-mountain bike. Maybe a moped, or depending on your local regulations, a Sur-Ron?
i have 2 26 inch mtbs; 1 hardtail with narrow slicks i use for road, and the other, heavier fs that's mostly off /road plush but too soft to make it efficient on road. I have been looking at ebikes obsessively for a year (up to 1500$), but although i like the idea of a 20+ ah 48v or even 60v geared hub, i find so many of these frankenbikes are just plain ugly and monstrous, or the folding ones look like something my grandmother would ride. I have warmed up a lot to the emtb concept because i do like the responsive assist and want to get some exercise too, but yes, it will be mostly on local suburban treks. That's ok. The major problem with the 26 ht i have is low rise and lack of comfort on road but i guess a stem change could fix that. with this bike, at this price of 845 usd all in, i feel like its worth a try. I wish the range /battery was bigger though. the geared hub bikes are hell to ride home empty too so this one at least would be a lot easier and more manageable/fun. Plus it seems like people are squeezing out 35 miles on easier rides. The moped style is of no interest, non adjustable seat height and akward pedaling or ghost pedaling at higher speeds. I like the wired bikes specs, but they dont ship to Canada, its pretty ugly, and it costs 2700 so over 3x this one. also hard to find FS geared hub bikes under 2k usd, and i definitely want fs @@MrOscillot
@@soneeeee4440 FYI this bike's suspension is not its high point. But like you said, you can't beat the price. You should pick up an extra battery if you bike in the cold and are worried about range.
I thought the video was very good and helpful
great looking configuration. those carbon handle bars with integrated stem looks awesome. I would add a rear dual piston shock and convert those rear journal bushings to ball bearing. that internal routing mod is clutch.
Thanks!
It’s amazing how much sexier the Hover Cam’s video quality looks in the foggy conditions! At first I thought you had someone piloting an actual high-quality PoV drone.
Nice continuous long shots! Where I live there are lots of trees and tight turns, so I end up riding very slowly and/or doing lots of crash recoveries. But it’s still fun, and I’ve gotten a couple of vids out of it. It’s a good little drone and easy to take along.
Wow. I was shock that you bit the bullet on the digital gauges swap. I just got my 2016 JKU Rubicon, and not all are amazon, but the top 5 items I have swapped was the stock radio to Stinger Heigh10. I have to say without this video I did not realize that they have digital gauges upgrade, the gauges are not really bothering me. Secondly the awful headlights! OMG. I'm also switching them to KC Lite gravity 7 , so many little other upgrades included, Grab Bar, Door pockets, Rear door extension etc.
Congrats on your new Jeep. Your build sounds sweet!✌
Does your walk mode work? Does the power auto off work on yours after 10 minutes of non-use?
Yes and no. Try pressing the "i" button before holding down the walk button to get walk mode to work. It is set too low and doesn't help on the trails though. As for auto off, the screen stays on, but the bike consumes practically no power when standing still. People on the Facebook owner's group report leaving the bike on for months and still having a full charge.
How’s this bike holding up, you still riding it?
Yes, and the price has come down to less than $1k! www.walmart.com/ip/377127878
